Congress Plaza Hotel – Only In Chicago
“Are you looking for a budget friendly hotel that’s close to the downtown area in Chicago? There’s only one place to go and that is the Congress Plaza Hotel. This was built during the 1890s and was designed primarily for the World’s Columbian Exposition visitors. It is across the street from Grant Park and about 2 miles from Navy Pier.
The lobby has two restaurants and a lounge. American cuisine is served in Gazebo Restaurant while Midwestern cuisine is served (dinner only) at Rafael Steak House. There are 23 conference rooms for events and banquets. Decorated with gold leaf trim with chandeliers, the Gold Room is ideal for formal affairs.
Guest rooms are provided with tiled bathrooms of shower and tub combinations. All are provided with complimentary toiletries and a hair dryer. Each room has its own Internet access plus pay per view cables with premium channels, of course. There are also special amenities like safes built in the room and coffee makers. Rooms are provided with air conditioning and climate control. Rooms have telephone and a clock radio which can be used as an alarm clock for guests. But if this alarm won’t be able to wake you up because you are a heavy sleeper, then you can give instructions to the front desk and ask them to give you a wake up call at a specific time. Voice mail service is also offered in the phone service.
You can also request for a crib or an infant bed for your babies or a roll away bed for older children or extra persons. The rooms lock with special electronic or magnetic keys. The rooms are kept clean because housekeeping is always prompt and done when tenants are out. You can also request for an iron and an ironing board if you don’t want to look like you are living out of a suitcase. You are also allowed to smoke as long as you are inside your room. And each room has a window that opens outside.
Arcade, ATM and regular banks, breakfast, fitness gyms, hair salon, Wi-Fi access, multi-lingual staff, room services, safety deposit box at the front desk, etc are the other added services and amenities offered. The front desk is open 24 hours. There are banquet facilities and catering for wedding receptions, and other event celebrations. Conference rooms are also available for conventions and seminars. They will also dry clean or wash your laundry. They have a large area for exhibits and they also have meeting rooms for small group gatherings.”
